Major airports in Iceland
Icelandair passengers from Europe and North America land at Keflavík International Airport (KEF).
To fly to Greenland* or domestically within Iceland, passengers must transfer from Keflavík to Reykjavík Domestic Airport (RKV) – a distance of 50km (31 miles).
*NOTE: Currently, all flights between Iceland and Greenland use Reykjavík Airport (RKV).
From June 1, 2022, the following applies:
Keflavík International Airport (KEF): to/from Nuuk, Ilulissat
- Reykjavík Airport (RKV): to/from Kulusuk, Narsarsuaq
How to transfer between Keflavík International & Reykjavík Domestic Airports
- Passengers must pick up their baggage at Keflavík airport and take it with them as they transfer to Reykjavík airport.
- Transfer options include bus and taxi. Travel time is dependent on the time of day and on traffic and road conditions, but passengers should allow around 90 minutes for bus transfer, and about 60 minutes by taxi or private car.
- The same also applies for returning flights. Baggage needs to be collected at Reykjavík airport before transferring to Keflavík for onward flights. Allow sufficient time to travel between the 2 airports.
